Read...
History In The Headlines, May 5, 2015...
titled:
"Attack of Japan's Killer WWII Balloons Comes, 70 Years Ago."
Japan launched 9,000 fire bomb balloons 1944-45.
One near Klamath Falls, Oregon, kills six civilians on a picnic outing.
Another made it as far as West Texas...w/o explosives.

Now don't tell bop not to prepare to duck and cover.
Did it during WWII air raid drills and...during Cuban Missile Crisis air raid drills.

North Korea's John-Un ?...Ah'nuther bona-fide 100% nut case !

In actual news today is the 75th Anniversary of the famous Doolittle Raid that shocked Japan and boosted American spirits after Pearl Harbor.

As for Bop's duck and cover warning, the six picnicers killed were not warned of the risk by our government. The United States did not want Japan to know whether the project was succeeding and asked the media to not report on it and the media complied. Most Americans were unaware of the threat for this reason.

That kind of concealing a threat, contributing to deaths, would create a stink today.

I'm not sure what Bop thinks we should be ducking and covering from. As for me I have no plans to duck and cover today. Instead, I'm going to mow the lawn.

Pres. JFK did not discourage folks from hastily digging backyard shelters (covered with heavy railroad ties and dirt).
Look closely.
Might see some still in existence (occasionally used as tornado shelters).
After 55 years, some commercial buildings (with basements) still have a yellow and black three triangle "fall out" shelter sign.

Ever hear of an Atropine Syrette ?

Yesterday I did not duck and cover. Glad I didn't. With the time not spent ducking and covering I mowed the lawn and edged the sidewalk.

Today I do not plan to duck and cover either. My daughter, the one expecting my first grandchild, flew in last night from Germany. Going to spend time with her and make preparations to move from our current house in Indianapolis.

Bop, make sure your bunker is wifi connected.

Hast Du etwas Zeit für mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied für Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont

Denkst Du vielleicht g'rad an mich
Dann singe ich einen Lied für Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und dass so was von so was kommt

99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man für UFOs aus dem All
Darum schickte eine General

'Ne Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben, wenn es so wär
Dabei war'n da am Horizont
Nur 99 Luftballons

99 Düsenflieger
Jeder war ein großer Krieger
Hielten sich für Captain Kirk
Es gab ein großes Feuerwerk

Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fühlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf 99 Luftballons

99 Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich für schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute

Riefen, Krieg und wollten Macht
Mann, wer hätte das gedacht
Dass es einmal soweit kommt
Wegen 99 Luftballons

Wegen 99 Luftballons
99 Luftballons

99 Jahre Krieg
Ließen keinen Platz für Sieger
Kriegsminister gibt's nicht mehr
Und auch keine Düsenflieger

Heute zieh' ich meine Runden
Seh die Welt in Trümmern liegen
Hab 'n Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an Dich und lass' ihn fliegen

~Nena

Someone put Bop on watch, he might think the Germans are bombing Pearl Harbor again...

O.K., O.K., just so you were aware of what was...of serious domestic concerns !

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_and_cover

or

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqCxcnhNAeQ

"Sleeping On Guard Duty...Once A Serious Offense."

P.S.
Ever been through a major metropolitan area evacuation ?
Sept 23, 2005 with Hurricane Rita's approach, the Galveston/Houston evacuation (north to Dallas) resulted in massive 185 mile I-45 traffic jams.
Folks ran out of gas, food, water and civilized conduct.
Most realized...they should have stayed at home (to face the what if's of Rita).

Really Bop, as a Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Army's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical warfare course I don't need a childish "Bert The Turtle" freaking kindergarten level cartoon to advise me of the risks of nuclear weapons and potential personal counter-measures.

Keith, I was at Aberdeen/Edgewood Arsenal in 1976. When were you there?

So, ah DHG !
bop's quite impressed.
And bop walked the streets of Dachau's konzentrationslager when you were still in diapers.

Now, tell us all about the atropine syrette and why (after use) you attach the used / empty syrette container to your collar.

Sorry cartoon was all in B & W.

The atropine normally came as one element of a two injector kit that also included Pam II Chloride. The atropine is a muscle relaxer designed to counter the symptoms of nerve agents. The Pam II Chloride is designed to actually work the nerve agent out of the synapse.

For more on my discussion of the bio-chemistry involved with nerve agents as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, you can read this post where I wrote about it: https://medium.com/@KeithDB/north-koreas-spy-novel...5fb1cce674

O.K. great wiki research.

What wiki omitted was the vital need to attached the used / empty syrette to your collar.

As a accomplished DHG designee now please tell the folks a precautionary need for attaching the USED / EMPTY SYRETTE to your own collar.

It wasn't wiki research. I knew this stuff. I provided wiki links for substantiating the information for others and to allow them to read more about it if they wanted.

Yes, you attach the syringe to the victim's collar to advise future treating personnel that he already has one atropine dose in him. This is to prevent accidentally overdosing the patient on the muscle relaxant, which can also be fatal.

Duh. Common sense Bop, if you know what it is and what it is for.

Geeeeez ?
Gotta remember, not everyone is ah DHG.

There are hundreds-of-thousands (perhaps millions) who are clueless about O.D.ing, or being O.D.ed, from one too many atropine syrette injections.

Well Bop, you talk to us like we are idiots offering moronic cartoons from the 50s featuring a duck and cover turtle. It's not as enlightening as you think, and we are as dumb as you think.
