Former Louisville head coach Ron Cooper is expected to be named a defensive assistant coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks according to FootballScoop.com. The website, citing unnamed sources, wrote Sunday that Cooper would be brought on board by John Chavis, who has been widely reported as the leading candidate to be named defensive coordinator for new Coach Chad Morris

Our former OC from the early 90's is going to be LSU's new OC...Ensminger.

Unless Ensminger has improved and learned over the last 20 year or so (which is very possible) my memory of Ensminger as our OC was defined by VERY poor offensive output which results in his firing. Not to wish a coach ill will but here’s to LSU having the same experience as well.

I want to remember he came to A&M from Georgia, having been successful w a well performing QB there.

I thought he was at LSU and a few yrs ago took a demotion due to some health issues. He was the interim when Coach O became the Interim.
Dont know I heard anything as to why they brought in another.... Could still have been health or perhaps it was the AD.
Hope for his sake those health issues are behind him.

Ensminger struggled like all of the OCs under RC. Good against bad teams but completely inept against quality teams.

That a function of the Coach?
Or the fact we had SubPar facilites, and staff payroll that impacted our ability to recruit?

I seem to recall we struggled against teams which had (according to the services) better talent.

I seem to recall that ANY coach during the RC era, was seriously impacted by our facilities & resource limitations. Which is different from our memory of our Expectatons!

How many passed thru and moved on when they could be in a better position to succeed elsewhere?

Well, with Cooper going to Arky, at least we know we can throw on them! Just take a few pages out of the Wake playbook, and right there there's around 500 yards of offense. Razz

Banks is almost certain to leave, and Bama is currently the most discussed landing spot for Jeff.

Alabama has hired former Texas A&M special teams coordinator, recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Jeff Banks, according to college football insider Bruce Feldman.

In addition to being a good on-field coach, Banks is also known as a good recruiter, and Nick Saban added a nice piece to his staff in Banks. Currently, associate head coach and running backs coach Burton Burns is listed as the special teams coach on the team’s website, but it appears that Banks will take over the special teams duties.

Being a punter at Washington State, Banks has coached special teams his entire career.

When Texas A&M fired Kevin Sumlin, Banks was named interim head coach for the bowl game.

Alabama lost two on-field coaches recently: defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt left for the Tennessee head coaching job and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley left to become the Raiders’ secondary coach. Saban has now added Banks and former UTSA defensive coordinator Pete Golding to his staff.

Interestingly, the coaching turnover might not be over either. NFL insider Ian Rapoport says that offensive coordinator Brian Daboll could return to the NFL.

Watching Saban's reaction to some of Diboll's spread offense playcalling, I'd say that Nick is not too upset.

Saban was never a fan of the zero hitch, stretch play to the boundary stuff.

Yep, the last few plays during regulation Saban went over and obviously said something to get Diboll's attention... Because Diboll glanced/looked at Saban, but quickly returned to his "chart" because the clock was ticking...

I know one thing - he doesn't look like an OC!! Maybe a short order cook at a fast food franchise...

I suspect Diboll's a$$ chewing may help decide to bolt elsewhere - just like Kiffin did...

Like them or not...some of those sideline plays worked VERY WELL for Bama....

Maybe because they caught Georgia completely off guard...maybe because the second wide receiver out there could actually block, maybe because they were so darn fast...but I--for one--was impressed with what A FEW of those plays could do for a team like Bama...and sure wished that they could have done something like that for us---of course they are hardly a surprise when you run that sideline stuff on about 60% of your plays it hardly surprises anybody.

Dick,

The big problem with all of that horizontal attack stuff is that a fast defense such as Georgia has can eat up a zero hitch, screen or stretch play in a heartbeat. squeaky did that all the time with the option attacking fast defenses with lousy pass defenses. Spav seemed to be a complete nihilist with no memory, he'd call the same play over and over again and we would lose yardage.

Diboll's play calling against Georgia played to Georgia's strengths and BAMA's weaknesses...AND he kept calling the pass when it was obvious that Hurts was having one of those nights when he couldn't hit the ground with a pass...Georgia played the same defensive scheme Auburn did...force BAMA to beat them with the pass...unfortunately, Nick wasn't going to go there again and he put in the Throwing Samoan 2.0 and he was on fire.

Nice reference.

But I think Hurlin' Hawaiian would be a little more accurate for the new kid.

A little faster than Hurts and a more polished passer.

I wonder which one transfers in the spring?
