Hoping the Rangers get an Opening Day win.

If so, could be the only time we'd be above .500 all year.

As you all know, the Astros are loaded to the brim of the silo. If anything can go wrong, however, Houston teams will generally find that thing. Nonetheless, this Astros team is formidable, with great chemistry and talent and only one roster spot out of 25 -- LH relief pitching -- considered actively questionable.

The Rangers are just a conundrum to me right now. They just can't assemble a pitching staff that bears any resemblance to an MLB array of arms. A 1B that hits 40 bombs but around .200 is also a head-scratcher. I suppose they can hope for another HOF season from Beltre, and the rest of the team can just hang on for the ride. When are the owners going to blow out this GM group? Watching a non-competitive Rangers team irritates me, after what they achieved and were building just a few seasons ago.

The born-again Astros fans, after about 10 years of wandering in the wilderness, had a lot of fun on this thread last season. These guys fielded a big bunch of playas! The tea leaves indicate that will continue in 2018.

Got a chance to enjoy the game with AgDad78 and his bride of 41 years.

Made watching the Rangers fall short tolerable (actually, good company like that makes a day at the Ballpark far better than tolerable).

Cool

Well Mr. Goodson, at least it wasn't a doubleheader...

It cost me a PTO day, but a day at the ballpark anywhere...and an Aggie sporting event anywhere and any time...those are good places to be...

Good company, good diet coke, good grief...the Rangers lost, but I still found a lot of joy at the ballpark yesterday...

Wink

I was an Astro fan first. I absolutely abhor the fact that we have to go to St. Louis to see two national league teams play. Like it was in 1060 or before...

MLB announced today that a total of 254 players represented an all-time record of 21 different countries and territories outside of the United States on 2018 Opening Day 25-man rosters and inactive lists.

The Dominican Republic again lead the Major Leagues with 84 players, Venezuela ranked second with 74 players, while Puerto Rico placed third with 19 players, its highest total since 2011 (20)

Isn't it unusual for the World Series Champs to open the next season on the road?

Never really tracked it...just thought that having a home opener would be an assumed perk for the champs...

Can't wait for the Rangers' ownership to wake up, smell the coffee and send Jon Daniels packing.

Minor didn't pitch that badly, but starting in the T5 Altuve, Correa and Gattis unloaded on Texas seven times in the T5, T6 and T7. After Claudio shined in Game #2, he was lambasted on Sunday. Maybe the book on Houston should be -- never show the Astro order a pitcher more than once in a series.

Gerrit Cole didn't need much support, yielding two hits during his seven IPs. With three superb starts in the opening four-gamer plus with home-opener starter, Charlie Morton tagging 97 and 98 in his final spring fling, Houston's starting pitching appears absurdly good thus far. When Brad Peacock and Collin McHugh can't even get any starts on this club, that's a deep and very solid rotation!
