1. QB is going to go down to the wire. Mond has significantly improved.
2. OL needs work. Hard to tell in a spring game because starters are split, but it wasn't pretty.
3. DL is the best position group by far
4. LB is pretty dang good as well (Very positive development)
5. Corners look much better
6. Safety looks much worse (again just based on this game)
7. We have a legit TE. (WOW!!)
8. We need more speed at WR
9. Kibodi was very impressive |

The two lines pretty much drew a draw over the course of the game. Even with all the shuffling and rotation.
So if OL needs work and DL is best position and they performed at the same level, well that's either really good or really bad... _________________ Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. ~ Conan |

I disagree with the draw the DL dominated most of the scrimmage. |

According to Coach Fisher, Starkel still has the edge at QB. Although Mond's 3 TDs and no picks is definitely a good sign.
Keke and Mack will be among the best DTs in all college football if they keep it up.
It's nice to not only have a legit TE but a coach that will throw the ball to him.
Although a totally different WR (length versus speed), Rogers looks ready to fill the void left by Kirk.
We might have some competition at LB. Johnson and Okeke could push for playing time.
The best thing though was no injuries. _________________ Keep calm

Not surprising at all. When they had that film clip of Coach Fisher during halftime I suspected some of our current players would not take it well. |

Not yet.
Some over loaded positions will be thinning out. |

Seems like we have some dead weight in the WR, CB and OL positions. |

Absolutely agree with you, point by point, MK.
I thought that the Corners had some good moments...but still didn't think they looked anywhere close to solid.
It seemed at times like the Corners played man and safeties played zone...sometimes they turned a guy lose and no safety in sight. 4-5 times this happened...but QBs only looked at open WE twice... _________________ We can think all we want, we can suggest all we want, we can surmise all we want, we can prognosticate all we want, but ultimately, those boys have got to suit up and play the game. |

At the game, my impression was that there were several players that looked good--players that we don't often talk about and that have not--of the most part--been mentioned yet for their performances...
I though SANTINO MARCHIOL had a very good performance and saw relatively a lot of time on the field for a player that had not previously been able to establish himself for a number of reasons and if he continues to play like he did might find himself in the LB rotation this year...
I thought RB A J SANDERS looked pretty quick and was a tough runner when he got his shot in the second half...seems like every time he touched the ball he had an impressive, tough carry...he got pulled when they went back to the first teamers late in the clock running continuously second half or I think more folks would have been raving about his running Saturday...
I thought OKEKE looked good and had some very impressive plays as well...glad to see him stepping up...looks like he could get some meaningful reps in the fall...
ETWI impressed once again in the second half when he got his chance to run and showed some nice speed getting into the secondary on his limited carries...
and finally, I thought BRADEN WHITE looked good once again this year (like he did in last year's spring game) when he got his limited LB reps late in the second half. Young man just always seems to be in the right place and always seems to deliver an impressive big hit when he gets to play. Encouraging again and hopefully he gets a chance to see the field this year--even if it is only in what I hope we can call mop-up duty against a couple of the OOC foes we see this year...
Just thought these guys deserved a shout out too...I am looking forward to seeing some replay of the first half as they re-air that part of the game and hope someone can find and post the second half video which was really very much more "interesting" than a lot of the first half that made the predetermined TV broadcast window.
Anybody else notice these guys or any others that deserve a bit of a special
shout out here??? |

WR Kendrick Rogers, #13. He is tall, fast, fights for the ball, loves to win the battle for the ball.
I have heard that he may lack some concentration at times...but when I watched him, I was impressed and excited to see him. _________________ We can think all we want, we can suggest all we want, we can surmise all we want, we can prognosticate all we want, but ultimately, those boys have got to suit up and play the game. |

He had a heck of a catch last year along the sidelines. The officials called it out of bounds, but replay showed him dropping his toes inbound. Great play. _________________ Goodags,

Have only watched half the game, but, did we make much use of a fullback?
