When he gets a raise, he should send Coach Sumlin a Thank You note.

And all the brilliant armchair/internet coaches here can thank Woodward & Buzbee for opening their mouths.

He would certainly be on my VERY short list. I'd be shocked if he left PSU.

This is the last guy we want. Total slime.

His 5 exception players to Vandy committed rape... together, at the same time, on the same girl.

His #1 requirement for assistant coaches - how hot their wives are - no seriously I'm not making this up.

On our recruiting visit to Vandy it was over in less than 5 minutes. Not someone my kid was going to play for, he gives off the slime vibe instantly.

I'd rather keep Sumlin and lose in November than have Franklin. We hire Franklin my dollars stop flowing.

I have actually heard of this before in sales - An indication of how good a "closer" you are.

Yes, it was a slime ball that I heard it from too.

I know this is might rub some the wrong way, but I would rather be average with integrity and hire a scumbag with no integrity and win. I think we can have both eventually, whether that be Sumlin, Peterson, Chad Morris, etc.

Not sure if the burnt orange mafia had anything to do with suggesting, writing, or getting the article published...BUT I CAN ABSOLUTELY ASSURE YOU...that they will take full advantage of using it with all of our committed and target commitment athletes who are really starting to build their interest once again in A&M but have been reluctant to pull the trigger in our favor until they are at least "pretty sure" who the coaching staff will be here.

And mark my words, should things continue to improve as our young players gain experience and our record take a great move in the positive direction (which most believe it certainly could do) then you could expect to see the slimy media (those with a bias or intention to create stability questions here) to start identifying Sumlin as a candidate for other jobs.

It happens every year...and will happen again if circumstances dictate it could help their recruiting and turn on more orange lights at the tower in Austin.

When Ned speaks, people should listen.

Franklin is Briles 2.0

Right now, none of this interests me. I'm just wanting to see if the improvement in our young players continues. The Florida game should tell us a lot. If we don't get a W, a win over Auburn becomes make or break.

Sounds to me like Franklin's agent might be parlaying a "strategically placed fake news nugget" into a new deal for his client.

Ya think?

Cool

If I had my vote I say we should never poach a coach from another school of equal or greater caliber. It would be a lateral move at best and maybe even considered a step down. It should send red flags (if true) out that a coach is willing to leave a premiere program like that in the first place and secondly that's how we acquired Fran. We don't need Fran II.

Likewise if Sumlin happens to achieve ~10+ wins this season and stories start popping up about him going to USC or the NFL I say we hold fast. If $5 MM ain't enough jack let them fly. We did it with Fran and then we did it again with Sumlin.

As an addendum to the above the one exception is that the coach we are poaching is either an Alum or has close ties to the area/university.

I am with those thinking an agent is just spreading rumors to get his client a high payday. I am also in agreement that 5 million is plenty. We got played by sumlin's agent to get sumlin a high payday and now franklins is doing the same to penn state.

Believe me, this won't be the last rumor put out this season that will result in a coach getting a salary bump.

So what does "Aggie" do, CALLS into SIRIUS XM to MAKE THE CASE for firing Sumlin and getting FRANKLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you know any of those guys, be a good ag, do your part, raise the average IQ of FSA and the general population...shoot em,

So true, blk. Sadly, I have a buddy from my dorm (Moses Hall) who has been living in the New England area the last 25+ years, and while a great guy he has taken to the social media airwaves by reposting 247's "tripe ad nauseum" about this story without comment.... which is nothing more than a tacit urging/vote to jettison our coach. Sheesh Rolling Eyes ... I've had to offer him my FaceBook view from the CottonPatch with the proverbial "let's see what happens by the end of the season." Brick wall

Yup, the more I think about this the more I think Franklin's agent is behind all of this, and he knows exactly where to dig and twist the social airwaves to better his client's chances of their desired result.

If Prostitution is the oldest profession, then "conniving snake oil salesman (and part-time lawyer) is right it behind it at #2.

So, you want to "enjoy" this a bit more?

Read this Big 10 Hit Piece on A&M...

Link to Article

Just a snippet:

Quote:
Even if it’s laughable, the Aggies might as well shoot their shot.

You never know what a coach could be thinking until you ask, so it’s possible Franklin could be lured away from Happy Valley with an ungodly sum of money. Maybe A&M can entice him with idea of competing in a weaker conference with an easier path to championships, though that seems unlikely. If he can compete against the Ohio States and Michigans of the world, what would he have left to prove?

James Franklin might not leave Penn State for any job, and he certainly isn’t going to College Station. Texas A&M would be better off targeting Nittany Lions offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead.

GOLD!!

And to think, until this gem was published, it was assumed the largest population of delusional human beings on the planet was gathered in Travis County Texas.

Franklin has had one good season at Penn State.

After his first two seasons, he was feeling intense pressure:

7-6
7-6

Only last year they went to 11-3 with losses to 8-5 Pitt, 10-3 Michigan, and 10-3 USC.

He did very well for Vandy:

6-7
9-4
9-4

but the character of his team was unacceptable (rapists).

I really think this is his agent trying to get a raise while the record is unblemished this season.

So frustrating that the sips can create whole stories out of thin air just by funneling money to journalists.

The folks in Austin know that this program is about to blow up and are trying like hell to slow us down. Yet another example of "sports journalism" bought and paid for by the sips.

Just bullcrap. Shame on you
