It occurs to me that "Jimbo Fisher" is a name that just reeks of SEC. It is perhaps the epitome of SEC coaching names.

The last name quite literally says "gone fishing." You want to take a name like that on in a fishing contest? Nope. That's a surname that says sir name. His last name invokes images of two good ole boys dropping their lines in the water and one says "Jimbo, why do yankees tawks funny?" To which his friend, in the slow and deliberate way that conveys wisdom, replies " Well, I reckon it's on account of how cold it is up there, that kinda cold has gots to affect your speech."

And then there is the first name, "Jimbo." Does it get anymore SEC than that? It's like his parents couldn't agree on whether to use the great Southern names of Jimmy and Bo and so just smashed them together (they didn't go with "Bojim" for obvious reasons). "Bo" is a great, great football name, as in Bo Schembechler and Bo Jackson. Now we got our own "Bo" here. But not just any Bo, a Jimbo, which sort of sounds like "jumbo," conveying big expectations.

One thing for damn sure, "Jimbo Fisher" is a name that belongs in the SEC, and not in the ACC with the fancified likes of "Bawston College" or anything with "Polytechnic" in its name.

Jimbo Fisher, you are home!

His given first name isn't Jimbo, but I hope you know that. And the nickname Jimbo is a shorter version of the original Slim Jimbo as he apparently had a thing for Slim Jims. His post-coaching career aspiration is an organic jerky company using meat from animals native to the south east.

Watching his presser on YouTube and his constant talking about the "process" and how things are evaluated on the "process" and not the outcome could be coming straight from St. Nick's mouth.

Since Jimbo coached under Saban can we say he came from that tree?

It will be a very interesting off season to say the least.

Yes. The report is today he handled the conditioning and it was reported to be "the hardest conditioning workout" since coming to A&M.

First, the name Jimbo. Below is a short link to a espn interview of Coach fisher where the question about the first name is asked...

Second, that toughest workout thing...

I saw it in a post on TexAgs supposedly from the father of a kid that is friends with a walk-on. That Jimbo was there for afternoon workouts and conducted them, etc.

Another poster came on and said that Jimbo did not make an appearance. Several other posters identified this poster as Connor Blumrick's dad.

I don't know which to believe, but some great stories/lies are gunna come out of this guy called Jimbo being in AggieLand... Gig 'em

Even when first posted, I could believe he put in an appearance...but found it very hard to believe that he "conducted" them

I know he said he was going to meet with the team and let them know th "plan" or rather to acquaint then with "THE PROCESS"

Just my understanding and suspicion of what might have taken place Think

Actually Billy Bob or Bubba are the only names in the SEC vernacular that could beat Jimbo.
