Well, they were correct on a few of their guesses last year...

They give their reasoning in the article...

They say this is based on their analysis of the teams coming into the season and not on history/bias.

LSU, SCar both seems high to me, based on the team and last year. They have major issues on offense.

Florida...that absolutely has to be SEC writers bias. Lat year, even with Mullin, give us no hint they might be this good.

Mizzou...give me a break. Statistically the worst D in the SEC last year and they really didn't add anyone that appears to be poised to be outstanding. Offensively, Locke had much worse statistics as the defenses he played got better.

Ah well, everyone has an...opinion.

AgDad, I agree with you on all of it. Picking MO and FL ahead of us seems really mind boggling to me. Think

Well it will be fun to read and hear all of the back peddling when we start whipping butts and playing defense.

The Missouri and Florida picks are definitely head scratchers. lsu being so high is questionable, but I can see them being ahead of us if you go by history. However, they said they were not going by history, so.....

South Carolina is becoming a legitimate opponent under Muschamp. There will be a day when we "get outscored" by the Gamecocks. I will rue that day, but odds say that it will happen. Truth is, the last few seasons, they have played more like a legitimate SEC team, and we were darn lucky to play them early in the season. As the year wore on, however, they got tougher. I'm not sure we would have earned a "W" if we had played them later in the calendar.

Florida is getting a bump because sports writers are high on Dan Mullen. And probably for good reason. He has the credible resume of working with and being tutored by Urban Meyer, and his record as HC at Miss State is commendable. Thus, the syllogism leads to high marks and expectations at Florida, a proven recruiting machine of speed and talent.

LSU is in a quandary. The Bengal Tiger is located in the midst of some of the richest talent in the world, but their head coach is a placeholder imo. Unrest in the bayou looms large, and the sports writers are ignoring that phenomenon. We have a legitimate shot at beating LSU this year... very legitimate.

Mizzou?... what the hell is that? My only guess is that their famous Journalism program has been turned upside down in the recent political cycles and social justice foibles, so much so that the sports writers they have spawned are going apoplectic in their logical reasoning. In short, they just ain't thinkin' right! Wink Cool

Oh well. LET THE GAMES BEGIN... we'll sort things out soon enough after that. Cool Gig 'em

I suspect that Jimbo and his staff will use such lack of respect to our advantage as they "communicate" with our players.

I suspect our new S&C man will be on that like white on rice.

Cool

It is pretty fun when the talking heads are forced to "switch horses". The Notre Dame Cotton Bowl comes to mind. No respect until there was no doubt.

I agree with Cotton on SC. They have an excellent defense. I think we often won because they didn't match up well with our spread offense (and they played us early in the season).

However, if our defense plays more consistently, we will be a different team as well so I don't know how it would go.
